This is one of a series of paintings I made in my studio after spending time in the Australian bush. I was struck by the vitality of these forest glades and pools of water, despite being strewn with forest detritus and fallen trees. The colours were beautiful, changing throughout the day. Sylvan Pool describes the stunning shades of blues, lilac and turquoise I saw there.
